It highlights them. And whatever hasn't been spoken clearly beforehand often returns later as recurring tension: in a fight about money, in a silence after a conflict, in a loneliness that had no name when everything seemed \u201cfine\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As I wrote in the article <a href=\"https:\/\/zen-yalow.213-158-90-34.plesk.page\/en\/syntrofikes-scheseis-to-thema-den-einai-pote-ta-piata\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">\u00abRelationships: it's never about the dishes\u00bb<\/a> very often tension doesn't stem from the surface issue, but from what accumulates underneath: unspoken needs, small disappointments, silent drifting apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And this is the difficult part for those who love, but <strong>fear friction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If I talk about the basics, might I ruin something beautiful?;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For many people, this is the real knot before marriage: not that they don't have love, but that they don't feel sure their relationship can handle the truth. And <strong>then silence starts to look like care<\/strong>, when it is usually just postponing the cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>in a session\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00abWe don't have major problems,\u00bb a client tells me shortly before his wedding.<br>\u00abIt's just that when I try to bring up serious topics, something inside me says leave it for now, don't ruin the atmosphere.\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We stay there for a moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00abAnd what are you afraid will happen if you open it?\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00abThat they will drift away. That I'll come across as over-the-top.\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is one of the most critical points before marriage: whether there is room for truth without the penalty of rejection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only then is connection truly safe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u00abWe're fine\u00bb is not sufficient preparation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recent research into the transition to marriage is quite revealing. In multi-year longitudinal data from 1,520 adults, relationship satisfaction rose in the years leading up to marriage, dipped slightly after the transition, and then gradually declined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This doesn't mean marriage \u201cruins\u201d relationships, but rather that the pre-marriage period is brighter because of expectation, idealisation and the feeling that \u00abthe best is yet to come\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, when <strong>you are preparing for marriage<\/strong>, the most mature question is not just:<br><strong>\u00abDo we love each other?\u00bb<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>but<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u00abHave we spoken clearly enough about the things that could hurt us later?\u00bb<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For many people, the hard part isn't that they don't know what they're feeling, but as I write in more detail in the article <a href=\"https:\/\/zen-yalow.213-158-90-34.plesk.page\/en\/echo-kati-simantiko-na-po-alla-kathe-fora-pou-echo-tin-efkairia-to-apofevgo-ti-na-kano\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">\u00abI have something important to say but every time I get the chance I avoid it, what should I do?\u00bb<\/a>. Before marriage, however, authenticity isn't coldness; it's a form of care for the relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>So, what should you discuss before getting married?;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don't need to agree on everything.<br>Nor do you need to pass some \u00abperfect compatibility\u00bb test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, you do need to know well enough:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>how each of you disagrees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>what each fears when tension rises<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>what \u201cfair\u201d means to each of you<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how each imagines daily life, money, the home, children and intimacy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>what makes him feel secure within the relationship<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In their team <a href=\"https:\/\/zen-yalow.213-158-90-34.plesk.page\/en\/i-omada-mas\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">ReConnecT<\/a> we often see that the problem <strong>is not that love is missing,<\/strong> but that there is a lack of a <strong>safe framework<\/strong> to express the essential things without fear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to research on premarital education, what seems to help most is improving communication skills, meaning the way the couple talks about difficult matters. Because difficult matters will arise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/zen-yalow.213-158-90-34.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/dissapointed-beautiful-brunette-girl-quarrel-with-her-boyfriend-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1539\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The essential pre-marriage topics that cannot afford to remain vague<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1) How do we argue and how do we return to togetherness?;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>No relationship is without conflict.<br><\/strong> However, there is a huge difference between a conflict that leads to understanding and one that leaves behind fear, distance, or silent treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A meta-analysis showed that negative communication patterns are linked to subsequent lower relationship quality and a higher likelihood of separation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is also directly connected to what I have written in the article <a href=\"https:\/\/zen-yalow.213-158-90-34.plesk.page\/en\/category\/syndeomai-connect\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">\u00abArguments and conflicts: Is there a solution?\u00bb<\/a>, where the core question is what the couple does when tension rises.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So one of the most important <strong>pre-marriage questions<\/strong> is this:<br>when one person feels pressured, do they attack or withdraw?;<br>when the other feels scared, do they seek contact or pull away?;<br>and above all: do you know how to reconnect after the rupture?;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), this is the relationship's \u201cdance\u201d. Not just what was said, but the couple's negative cycle of interaction: attack \u2013 withdrawal, demand \u2013 freeze, tension \u2013 silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2) How do we talk about money before marriage?;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Money is not an accounting issue, but a relational one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Research shows that financial conflicts are about much more than the amount of money itself: a sense of injustice, unilateral decisions, differing values, anxiety about the future, spending style, and a lack of transparency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So when you wonder <strong>how to talk about money before marriage<\/strong>, the basics are not just:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>how much we earn<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>who pays for what<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>whether we will have a joint or separate account<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">but:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>what security means to each of you<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how decisions are made<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>what \u201cextravagant\u201d or \u201cstingy\u201d means\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>who carries the financial anxiety<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and what happens when financial values don't align<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many couples avoid this conversation because they find it \u00abunromantic\u00bb. It is not unromantic; on the contrary, it is very revealing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3) How do we share the burden of everyday life?;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the most overlooked <strong>issues before marriage<\/strong> is this: who carries what load around the house and in shared life. Because sometimes it really is about the dishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Research on the division of domestic labour shows that how couples communicate about practical burdens significantly affects relationship satisfaction. It's one of those issues that wears down connection slowly, without making a sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here lies a trap:<br>you might give a little extra every now and then \u00abto keep the peace\u00bb. And at some point, the resentment builds up and explodes!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, before getting married, it's worth asking questions such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>what does each person consider fair?;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>which burdens are taken \u201cfor granted\u201d?;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>who organises and who simply follows along?;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how will reciprocity be shown in practice?;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Boundaries mean love with a shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4) How do we talk about sex, desire, and distance?;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your sex life is not a separate room. It is part of the relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A meta-analysis showed that sexual communication is positively linked to both relationship satisfaction and sexual satisfaction. This means that it is not only desire that counts, but also how it can be expressed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, one of the most essential <strong>pre-marriage questions<\/strong> is not just \u00abwhether we are a good match in bed\u00bb. It is also:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>how do we talk when we are not a match?;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how do we talk about shame, awkwardness, or different paces?;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how do you say a \u00abnot now\u00bb without it sounding like rejection?;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is also closely connected to what I have written in the article<a href=\"https:\/\/zen-yalow.213-158-90-34.plesk.page\/en\/pos-na-po-ston-syntrofo-mou-den-thelo-tora-sex\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">\u00abHow to tell my partner: \u201cI don\u2019t want sex right now\u201d?\u00bb<\/a>. Because sexual communication is tested not only when desire is present, but also when a boundary needs to be expressed without guilt, without it being automatically translated as rejection, and without damaging the connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a deeply relational issue. Because often conflict is not just about sex. It is about whether I can bring a vulnerable truth without losing the connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>5) What do we want from the life we are building together?;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If there are to be children, how do you envision parenthood?;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What role will our families of origin play?;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How much space will the couple have as a couple?;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What values do you want this shared life to serve?;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meta-analysis on the relationship between marital satisfaction and coparenting quality showed a significant positive link. In other words, <strong>how you are as a couple and how you will function as a parenting team are not two separate worlds.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, shared personal values influence the way you give meaning to your life together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don't need to be the same people.<br>However, you do need to know what world you want to build together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Are you ready for marriage? How can you tell?;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u038c\u03c7\u03b9 \u03cc\u03c4\u03b1\u03bd \u03b4\u03b5\u03bd
