The title features a shocking number: <strong>if you live to be eighty, you have roughly four thousand weeks<\/strong>. Not hours; weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What makes it particularly timely in July is that, this month, many of us make <strong>the \u00abfinally\u00bb list\u00bb<\/strong>: finally I'll find time to rest, get organized, exercise. The list reassures us for a minute and then suddenly weighs us down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a psychologist-psychotherapist, I recognize what often hides behind this. It's not a failure of planning. <strong>It is a silent belief that someday, if we try hard enough, we will reach a point where nothing gets left out. <\/strong>The greatest gift of the book is that it helps us move from \u00abI can't keep up, it's my fault, I'm doing something wrong\u00bb to \u00abam I asking time for something it cannot give me?\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Time here is reframed <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Out of the whole book, what stayed with me the most is a reframing: the problem isn't that you manage your time poorly, but that you <strong>deny that it is finite<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The more efficient we become, the more we fit in, and thus the more appears.
